Workshop Information

Rockin’ Typo – curated by Manuel Alvaro | 12 June

“Rockin’ Typo” is a typography workshop in which participants will explore three innovative approaches to type creation, combining elements of tradition with experimental and unconventional techniques. The workshop focuses on modularity, the use of non-traditional writing tools and creative materials to create unique typographic compositions. Inspired by the energy of rock and its visual culture, participants will be guided through a free and interactive manipulation of typography.

Manuel Alvaro is a curious creative and passionate drummer. He works as an Art Director across branding, typography and visual communication, alternating classroom teaching with hands-on experimentation. He is an ADCI ambassador and lecturer in the Communication Design department at Accademia Italiana.

Pimp Your Pin – curated by Gianluca Piovesan | 13 June

“Pimp Your Pin” introduces participants to the world of graphic design and visual communication through the design of custom pins, small objects that over time have become symbols of identity, belonging and personal expression. Especially widespread in punk and rock culture, pins have transformed clothes and accessories into true tools of visual communication, capable of conveying tastes, messages and attitudes through images, symbols and slogans.

Through references to graphic design, illustration and underground visual culture, participants will explore shapes, lettering and composition, experimenting with techniques such as collage, drawing and image manipulation to create a series of custom pins.

Gianluca Piovesan is an Art Director with experience in visual design and photography. He works with broad and diverse teams and has developed a dynamic and flexible methodology. He teaches Web Design at Accademia Italiana, where he shares his passion for the evolution of communication, technology and design languages.

Wishin’ Wall – curated by Bianca Sangalli Moretti & Daniele Mariti | 14 June

During Opel Firenze Rocks, design and music come together in a collective creative experience. “Wishin’ Wall” is a mural supervised by Accademia Italiana lecturers Bianca Sangalli Moretti and Daniele Mariti, which will come to life thanks to the participation of the audience. The artwork will become a visual celebration of the energy and spirit of sharing that define the festival.

An opportunity to leave your mark, express your creativity and feel part of something unique.

Bianca Sangalli Moretti is an Art Director and illustrator based in Florence, where she works in her creative studio, Nora Studio, shaping ideas for major digital communication brands. In addition to her work in advertising, she develops educational and awareness-raising projects and teaches Art Direction and Editorial Graphics in the Graphic Design course at Accademia Italiana.

Daniele Mariti is an illustrator, graphic designer and graffiti artist. For years, he has dedicated himself to mural art, taking part in jams and live painting events in Italy and abroad. He experiments with his style across mural art, illustration and streetwear; he also plays guitar in a punk rock band. He teaches Computer Graphics at Accademia Italiana.

These three workshops are an opportunity to experiment with new visual languages, bring together creativity and rock culture, and transform Firenze Rocks into a space for participation, design and shared music.
