Green Day

The headliners for Sunday, June 15th will be Green Day.

Led by Billie Joe Armstrong, Green Day are one of the most influential bands in the entire global music scene. This is demonstrated by the numbers, over 75 million records sold and 10 billion streams, and the huge success of their latest work, “Saviors”, released on January 19th 2024, a satirical and powerful album that has received wide acclaim from critics.

The Californian trio has just concluded the enormous “The Saviors Tour”, with a sold-out of 80,000 spectators in the only Italian date at I-Days Milano 2024, where they celebrated two milestones in their career: the thirtieth anniversary of “Dookie” and the twentieth of “American Idiot”. Despite their success, Green Day have no intention of stopping and are already ready to return to the stage of Firenze Rocks, after their great success in 2022, with an unmissable event for all Italian audiences.

With over three decades of career and songs that have defined contemporary punk rock, Green Day have marked the history of music thanks to timeless hits such as "Basket Case", "American Idiot", "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "21 Guns". The band has won over generations of fans with their rebellious and unmistakable sound, becoming one of the most influential and long-lived groups in the rock scene.

Formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California, Green Day are one of the most popular bands of all time, with over 75 million records sold worldwide and 10 billion cumulative audio/video streams. The five-time Grammy Award winners and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees released their hit album Dookie in 1994, which sold over 10 million copies and achieved 10x platinum status, and is widely credited with popularizing and reviving mainstream interest in punk rock, catapulting them into a string of #1 hit singles. Entertainment Weekly calls Green Day “the most influential band of their generation,” while Rolling Stone states that “Green Day have inspired more young bands than any group outside of Kiss, and that doesn’t look set to change.” In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera American Idiot, which captured the nation’s attention, selling over 8 million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album. Mojo said, “This is exhilarating stuff, the kind of record that sets new standards for what’s possible with a punk rock ‘n’ roll band in the 21st century.” In 2010, a stage adaptation of American Idiot opened on Broadway to critical and commercial acclaim. Released in 2020, Green Day’s thirteenth studio album, Father Of All…, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart and No. 1 in both the UK and Australia. Pitchfork said, “Green Day’s most youthful, charming songs in years.

The trio sound reinvigorated, more like hungry newcomers making their mark.” In July 2021, Green Day embarked on The Hella Mega Tour (with Fall Out Boy and Weezer). The global tour features 29 sold-out stadium shows, including such iconic venues as London Stadium and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. On January 19, 2024, the band released their highly anticipated 14th studio album, Saviors, which included the hit singles “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” which reached #1 on the Billboard Rock & Alternative Airplay charts, and “Dilemma.” The album debuted at #1 on seven different Billboard charts and marked their fifth #1 in the UK.
